Casualties were moderate with 2nd squad losing five, 3rd squad losing two and command squad losing its commander. The supporting gunship was shot down with the loss of the air crew. Field counts of enemy losses included one Humvee and at least five technicals.

In the defensive deployment, 3rd squad was posted in the west, 2nd squad in the middle, with command squad in the east. Two BRDM scout cars and two BRDM At vehicles were posted on the flanks of the deployment. Three of the rifle attacks hit command squad in sequence, including Wagner and Russian militia units. All were driven back by counterfire. More attacks struck positions of 2nd squad, and those, too were driven back. Several enemy vehicles did penetrate the task force's cordon, but were stopped before they did much damage. The gunship, detached from 2nd Corps aviation units provided some help in destroying enemy vehicles. The gunship was downed about three kilometers in enemy territory, necessitating a recovery mission. The air crew, which were unharmed, were safely evacuated with the remaining BRDM. Casualties were moderate. Command squad lost three, as did 2nd squad. 3rd squad lost four. Both scout cars and one BRDM AT vehicles were destroyed.

As the task force was taking up their positions, they were attacked by a series of Wagner operated gunships, which did some damage, before being shot down by a combination of vehicle and AA fire. Attacks from enemy infantry and vehicles, including tanks intensified. Attacks came from the northwest, north and northeast, with three tanks nearly entering the town itself. Orders to move to Lampashof were issued, so the task force disengaged from Schoenthal, and moved quickly to the last objective, where remnants defended against infantry attacks. After landfall, the naval infantry encountered Russian speaking covering forces. After pushing them back to the north, the task force occupied the village on the south side of the river. Initial attacks by Wagner operators hit 2nd squad, then 3rd squad which were deployed to the east. The enemy attempted to breakthrough there and in the sector of 4th squad. Commander ordered a number of naval artillery strikes, specifically scatterable mines, as well as white phosphorus rounds. Enemy forces failed to gain a foothold in the town. The task force withdrew back to the boats with light losses. Intervention by naval artillery kept a strong enemy force at bay, preventing them from accomplishing their plans.

But it only took a few days to find where her naturalization papers and husband #1’s marriage and death certificates had been carefully filed away in the boxes my basement instead of with the rest of her documents in the firebox in her room at the retirement home, and a few phone calls by the head clerk at the BMV assured all involved that the home office in Columbus would be satisfied once they received their copies of everything for the files, and we were given a printout to hold Mama until the laminated thing with photo would arrive in the mail. Thus we were surprised yesterday to discover that US Immigration had inserted themselves into the process, assigned a case number, and put all on hold until we provided them with a receipt number for an application that we do not have because no such application to them was made. Today I contacted the local Jewish Family Service social worker who managers her file as one of the local Holocaust survivors — Mama in fact was on the speaker circuit for the Holocaust Society here, after a decade of doing the same in Buffalo. So I may not need to contract an actual immigration lawyer to intercede. As it happens, I do know one of those, having been adopted as one of their own by a number of lotp’s college chums, despite having gone to school as somewhere not nearly so high in the stratosphere. ;-)

Command squad redeployed north in an effort to spring 4th squad loose, but was only partially successful. Casualties were high. Command squad lost one, while 2nd squad lost two. 4th squad lost four. In the final objective in Hitlersreid, the task force attacked from the southeast, overrunning enemy positions. The commander was killed in a crossfire. Casualties were heavy. Commander was unable to locate the female minder of the criminal command operatives, but did locate and strip the lead operative of documents on his person. Commander also advanced to the location of the atrocity and recorded it. Due to time constraints, commander ordered the task force to retreat. By the time commander was cleared of Rabi, a massive enemy attack using infantry and vehicles took place against recon squad and 2nd squad. In the end all attacks were stopped. Casualties were moderate. Command squad lost three, 2nd squad lost two and third squad lost two. Relieving rifle squad one lost five, while relieving rifle squad two lost three. Field counts of enemy losses included nine technicals.

The pasture was not visible from the road but a Sherriff's Deputy turning around in the access, which was on his property saw the weed and arrested the man. The local DA prosecuted the case. My attorney argued that since the field could not be seen from the road and the deputy came on the property without a warrant it was an unlawful search. The Supreme Court agreed and the charge was dropped.

Once dismounted, commander ordered an artillery strike of the suspected location of three supply trucks with enemy brought with them. Their presence was a clear indication the separatist were planning a troop build up. After the artillery landed (12 rounds) the penetration of the enemy's defensive zone went very quickly. Commander found and eliminated one of the criminal commander's minder, stripping her of documents and a cell phone. When the withdraw order came down, the task force withdrew in good order south. Losses were very light with command squad losing one and 3rd squad losing one. Field counts of enemy losses included two light technicals and one BRDM scout car.
20230506 23:00	badanov	OP2305-5-1 A task force assembed from 3rd Bn, Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade was ordered to recover a tank abandoned near Werferlingen city in Werferlingen. Recovery operations are complicated in that the abandoned tank must be repaired, refueled, and recrewed all under the threat of enemy fire. Fortunaely the enemy failed to post gurards at the location of the tank. Enemy counterbattery artillery did wiped out friendly supporting artillery. The tank was quickly repaired and evacuated from its position. Tank 2 suffered a mobility hit. It, too, was repaired and evacuated. The task force withdrew back to the southeast. Losses were very light with command squad losing one.

20230505 10:20	badanov	OP2304-28-7 A combined private high risk contractor and Chernarus Naval Forces special forces team was inserted in northeastern Chernarus with orders to eliminate a pair of separatist criminal command operatives. The two operatives, Viktor Kaba and Anna Putina, were holed up in Krasnostav. After a short march after landing by Zodiac boat, the team made its attack. An Chernarus Defense Forces MI-24 gunship helped provide air cover as the team closed in on the operatives from the west. The team combined to eliminate both of the operatives. Commander stripped documents from the bodies of the operatives before returning to ship. Air support was shot down with the loss of the air crew, the only loss of the operation.
20230505 05:14	badanov	OP2304-28-6 In Beketov, 2nd Bn, Chernarus 17th Separate Light Rifle Brigade was ordered to march on Sevastianovo to intercept separatist forces expected to arrive there. The deployment was in a line, 2nd squad in the west and 3rd squad in the east, with command squad in the middle. Enemy infantry attacks, along with vehicle attacks from Russian speaking militia and Wagner operators began in the east but were driven off by 2nd squad. In the west 2nd squad fought off attacks from Spanish speaking militia. A Wagner combat group managed to infiltrate to the rear of the deployment, forcing command squad to counterattack. Losses were moderate with 2nd squad losing two, 3rd squad losing four and command squad losing one. The MI-24 gunship was downed and its air crew evacuated with command squad. Field counts of enemy losses included three light technicals.
